The Design Edit: Statement Tile Is Having a Moment

The Right Tile Can Change Everything

If you've been in one of our recent builds, you've probably noticed that tile has become one of the places we have the most fun. Gone are the days of playing it safe with a standard subway tile and calling it done. Tile is a design decision now, and the right choice can completely transform a space from functional to unforgettable.

We're Going All In

The master shower in our current Lost Creek build is a perfect example — a moody, earthy tile set on the diagonal, turning what could have been a simple shower wall into something that feels like it belongs in a boutique hotel. The variation in the glaze gives each tile a slightly different finish, so the whole surface has depth and movement that a flat, uniform tile just can't replicate.

What makes this shower work so well is that every decision was intentional. The diagonal layout adds visual energy without feeling busy. The built-in niche with brass trim gives you function and a design moment in the same breath. The bench ties in seamlessly because it's using the same tile family, and the floor steps down to a smaller-format slate-toned mosaic that grounds the whole space. That layering of textures and scales is what separates a thoughtfully designed shower from one that just has nice tile. Our in-house designer, Victoria, loves leaning into this approach — using tile as the focal point of a bathroom rather than an afterthought. When you're building new, this is the kind of decision that pays off every single time you walk in the room.
